So what's the full story behind Yemaya?
How it all began
I have to admit, I have had a total ball in life up to now! I have been lucky enough to work and travel all over the world, from exploring the rugged mountains of Patagonia to teaching marine biology and tagging turtles in the Caribbean. But no matter where I was, I was always close to nature.
During a year on the road in Europe windsurfing I started designing and making to raise extra funds to keep the adventure going...and it's grown from there! Designs have evolved, quality has improved and photography has dramatically developed to lead me to where Yemaya is today.
Yemaya Ethos
I am super passionate about the ocean; it is never far from my heart which is why conservation and giving back is a huge part of Yemaya. Clichéd it may seem, but I have cut drowning turtles out of fishing nets and seen coral reefs be destroyed in seconds by careless boat anchors, amongst many other things.
Yemaya is about creating quality, timeless pieces, to be worn time after time whilst supporting ocean conservation.
What's next?
There are lots of new designs on the horizon, a few big design fairs and a special collaborative charity bracelet that will be launched later this year - I can't say too much right now but I'm very excited about what's ahead!
